Antique 19th Century Chinese Carved Bed Fascia / Canopy Panel.

This long panel was saved from the front of a mid nineteenth century four poster marriage bed where it would have formed the lintel over the entrance. Today it would make a rather unusual and beautiful wall decoration.
It was made in Eastern China and retains its original gold, red and black paint. It is composed of five smaller panels at the tops with relief carvings picked out in gold of animals, birds, flowers and temples. There are similar panels to the sides.

It is in wonderful condition for its age.

Measurements: Length 158 cms, height 59 cms, depth 28.5 cms.

Please note, in the measurements I have put height as 59 cms, this is the longest 'bracket' pieces. The front facing part is 25 cms in height.
