Beautiful and extremely rare first edition of the London, Constable & Company Ltd publishing of Fairy Tales of the Brothers Grimm. Illustrated with a color frontispiece and 99 illustrations in black and white.

Rackham's illustrations for Fairy Tales of the Brothers Grimm were first published in this edition. He was asked to create additional work in color for later printings. This book was considered Rackham's first major success and the beginning of his notoriety as an important artist.

Hardback, author Mrs Edgar Lucas. Original, printed 1900. Colour illustrations to cover and inside cover by Arthur Rackham as well as black and white illustrations within. Fantastic condition, small amount of wear and tear as expected for age over 120 years old. Sought after, collectors.

Covers and spine scratched and scuffed as is often the case with this edition. Corners bumped. Internally, hinges are cracked exposing webbing. Inscription on inside of front cover. Endpapers are chipped and tanned. Pages have occasional smudge and crease, otherwise clean and unmarked.
